• 7yr old Injured in PWC Accident Saturday on Lake Hartwell (921wlhr.com) — A young passenger suffered minor leg injuries after being thrown from a personal watercraft on Lake Hartwell Saturday afternoon, and the operator was cited for lacking required boater education and registration. Authorities stress that anyone born in 1998 or later must complete Georgia’s boating safety course and carry proof on board, with strict age limits on who can legally operate PWCs.
   

• Driver jumps into Lake Hartwell after running from police (wspa.com) — Law enforcement from Hart County, Lavonia, and Georgia State Patrol arrested a man who allegedly fled in a stolen SUV, crashed near a Lake Hartwell bridge, and then jumped into the lake trying to escape. The suspect was safely taken into custody after officers set up a perimeter and now faces felony fleeing and multiple traffic charges.
   

• DUI arrests, fatal crashes during Memorial Day holiday weekend (fox5atlanta.com) — Holiday weekend enforcement across Georgia includes a serious incident close to home, where a 7-year-old was hospitalized after being thrown from a personal watercraft on Lake Hartwell. State troopers report six fatal crashes and 100 DUI arrests so far, plus numerous distracted driving and seat belt violations, as game wardens stress boating safety and confirm alcohol was not involved in the Hartwell crash.
