• Man Killed By Secret Service After Firing Shots Near White House (patch.com) — Residents in Washington, DC saw a heavy Secret Service and FBI response Saturday evening after a 21-year-old Maryland man reportedly opened fire near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue by the White House. Agents shot and killed the gunman, a bystander was injured, and President Donald Trump remained safe inside as reporters nearby were rushed into the White House press area for protection.
   

• Irvin, Washington relievers hold Braves to 1 hit in a 2-0 win (wjla.com) — Washington Nationals pitcher Jake Irvin combined with relievers to hold the Atlanta Braves to a single hit in a 2-0 win, though Irvin left early with an injury. The strong outing, capped by Richard Lovelady's save, came despite a midgame rain delay and some replay drama on a potential double play.
   

• DOJ Pulls Jan. 6 'Propaganda,' Moves to Drop Sedition Cases (newser.com) — Federal prosecutors in Washington are asking judges to drop seditious conspiracy charges against several Jan. 6 defendants, even after convictions tied to the Capitol riot. At the same time, the Justice Department has been scrubbing many Jan. 6 case summaries from its website, moves that could reshape how this Washington-centered investigation is remembered and how some defendants are treated.
